In January, we hosted two seminars on subsea tunnels: the first in Punta Arenas and the second in Santiago. The event in Punta Arenas was organized to engage the government and key stakeholders in the Magellan region. A more comprehensive seminar in Santiago, which we organized with The Tunnels and Underground Spaces Corporation (CTES-CHILE)*, invited government institutions, national stakeholders, and the entire tunneling community in Chile to learn more about subsea tunneling.

More than 200 participants participated in the two events, which included streaming the presentations in Santiago and providing video coverage for marketing purposes. It was an outstanding marketing event for Norwegian tunneling and the concept of subsea tunneling.

The purpose of these events was to demonstrate how subsea tunnels can be a reliable alternative, effectively planned and constructed while minimizing financial risks based on insights from Norwegian experiences.

The seminars were highly appreciated, and by introducing the concept of subsea tunneling, it is expected that the subsea tunnel alternative will be available for future infrastructure development in southern Chile.

Our team is truly grateful for our outstanding collaboration with the Norwegian ambassador, the Tunnels and Underground Spaces Corporation (CTES-CHILE)*, Team Norway, and the public institutions and stakeholders in Chile.

*The Chilean Tunnels and Underground Spaces Committee (CTES-CHILE) is a permanent technical entity that unites leading professionals and related institutions in Chile - suppliers, consultants, construction companies, clients, and academics - aiming to address concerns, share knowledge, and disseminate information. This committee is a platform for technical development, dissemination, and best practices to promote the industry.

This Committee represents Chile in the International Association of Tunnels and Underground Spaces (ITA-AITES), which currently includes 58 nations along with the most significant companies and institutions in the global tunneling industry.
